Student Opportunities

HomeFreeUSAHomeFree-USA launched the Center for Financial Advancement™ pilot at Fisk University in October 2017.
CFA is the FIRST financial and homeownership empowerment movement at select HBCUs created to:

  •  Elevate the financial stature and homeownership potential of students, faculty, parents, and community residents.
  • Create a pipeline of skilled HBCU students for careers in real estate, mortgage lending and financial services through hiring and internships.
  • Position HBCU partners as an economic engine in their communities.
  • Amplify recruitment results for HBCUs.

The curriculum includes sessions on:

  • The Power of Everyday Leadership which includes training on image, networking, dining etiquette, business conversations, social media etiquette, eye contact, handshake and other professional skills that help to establish presence. Students also participate in interactive team exercises on attitude, mindset and goal setting.
  • How to Have #Money4Life which includes sessions on establishing and managing your credit, understanding credit score, establishing a spending plan, understanding and managing student loan debt and repayment, creating a spending plan based on needs versus wants, learning effective ways to save using a case study and easy ways to make and save money while in college.

Scholar Program Application 2020-2021

Fisk University is excited to announce its elite corporate partnership with HCA Healthcare. This unique partnership combines scholarships, internships and permanent placement opportunities. Every year, 20 HCA Healthcare Scholars will be selected and given unprecedented exposure to the HCA Healthcare organization. The HCA scholars represent a wide range of majors but all share an expressed interest in healthcare.

There is not an application for this program. Applicants are pre-selected and will receive an email.

 

The Fisk Executive Leadership Program is a premier and transformative education program designed to provide students with authentic work opportunities, while developing necessary professional skills. Students will practice utilizing essential habits to be competitive in the 21st-century job market and use economic independence by contributing towards the cost of their education. The Fisk Executive Leadership Program will allow students to gain valuable work experience and help reduce college debt.

The OPCD Ambassador Program targets students who serve as ambassadors and peer mentors for the office. Ambassadors will assist in promoting programs and services throughout the year.

As a career mentor, students are provided with an opportunity to serve as a peer mentor and also assist the office with career planning, assessments, internship searches and mini mock interviews.
