Human Development and Leadership

The Human Development and Leadership degree is the first fully online program implemented in the spring, 2020.  The Elective Studies (Human Development and Leadership Concentration is an online completion degree made up of existing Elective Studies courses.  It is designed to meet the needs of nontraditional students who have obtained an associate degree or its equivalent and for undergraduates who need to complete their degree that have been out of school for a period.  This 2-year program is designed to provide an opportunity for students to have flexibility to learn anywhere in the United States at any time and complete their degree in a timely fashion.

Distance Learning Issue Report  SARA Complaint Langauge

Fisk University is an institutional participant in the SARA initiative. SARA is called the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements; it is the voluntary, regional approach to state oversight of distance education. Fisk University is listed on the website at (www.nc-sara.org). Fisk University is now legally authorized to provide fully online programs. SARA provides an opportunity for institutions to obtain authorization to provide postsecondary distance education in states that join. These benefits are resulting in increased access as institutions like Fisk University can make their academic programs more widely available and accept enrollments from students in many other states.

Faculty Online Development Training

The Online Initiatives/Distance Education Department offers continual training to faculty students and staff on how to develop online courses (blended/hybrid and fully online), how to navigate Canvas (LMS) and provide faculty development workshops on the Best practices and online pedagogies for the online community.

 Objectives

Objective 1: Provide faculty training on the navigation process of Canvas (LMS).

Objective 2:  Train faculty to incorporate effective technology tools and best practices in online delivery.

Objective 3:  Provide training for blended/hybrid and fully online course development and implementation.

Objective 4: Encourage faculty through emails with support of the Provost to create and implement hybrid/blended and fully online courses using. Canvas.

Objective 5:  Collaborate with the Information Technology Services department to ensure that phone help and technology services are available for technical issues students and faculty may encounter daily.

Objective 6:  Develop a business plan for hybrid/blended and fully online courses.

Objective 7:  Attend   1-2 Online Learning Consortium conference annually   to learn more about effective technologies for online delivery.
